The social ecological residence project Groene Mient consist of 33 (private) sustainable residences on a 7600 m2 piece of land in the Vruchtenbuurt district in The Hague. Guidelines for the mutual residence project were the communal social and ecological values of Vereniging Groene Mient. The residence project was shaped in accordance with a mutual architectural design although the inside of each residence is different from the others due to the wishes of the individual households. The residences surround a mutual ecological garden that also includes a communal building which serves as meeting place.
Self-sufficiency regarding energy, use of non-fossil fuels, innovative technology, natural and sustainable materials, reuse of materials and water as well as accessible and flexible residences form an important part of the residence project construction.
