A new, car-free neighbourhood has been developed in Zaandijk; De Bannehoven.
The residential blocks designed by Heren 5 architecten are inspired by the historic timber sheds in the Zaan region: sturdy, robust and industrial. All homes in De Bannehoven, are energy-neutral. Moreover, care has been taken to ensure that the neighbourhood responds to the changing climate: water buffers, grass roofs and greenery along the streets relieve the sewer system during heavy rainfall.
Leegwater Houtbereiding was commissioned by Pontmeyer Zaandam to supply and treat the Douglas wood facade panels for this project.
