Fenix I has been voted “Best of Best” in the Residential building category of the ICONIC AWARDS 2020!
The jury was very enthusiastic about the transformed harbor shed:
“Integration of the historic dock warehouse in the project succeeded at a high formal design level. The striking structure, with its cubic, rhythmically arranged residential units is reminiscent of containers stacked on top of each other on a cargo ship. A fascinating association that optically establishes a bridge between contemporary building architecture and the container-loaded ships in the harbor and in this way makes the boundaries disappear. ”
The ICONIC AWARDS for Innovative Architecture is an international award for architects and designers, awarded by the German Design Council. The focus of the competition is on innovation and the convergence of different disciplines. Mei previously won the same prize with the transformed Cheese Warehouse in Gouda.
