About

After 45 years, Woningbouw Weesp decided to renovate the Sinnigveld apartment complex in Weesp (72 homes, 17 garages). FKG Architects won the selection for this renovation. Wood was the starting point from the outset. On the advice of Leegwater Houtbereiding, Douglas sorted grade fir from the German Black Forest was used as cladding. Leegwater treated the Douglas fir all round: preservation with Woodlife HL-50 (without metal salts), fire retardant with Flame Delay PT (including the rachelwork) and, for the finish, three layers of Sansin SDF (two coats of reddish brown, one coat of whitewash). The pink-beige colour of the Sansin SDF treatment closely matches the shade of the brick.

The photographs below, taken in 2025, show the state of the project thirteen years after completion, with the wood still in very good condition.

After completion, Het Houtblad published an article about this renovation project. You can read this article here.
