Fenix I is verkozen tot ‘Best of Best’ in de categorie Residential building van de ICONIC AWARDS 2020!
De jury was razend enthousiast over de getransformeerde havenloods:
‘Integration of the historic dock warehouse in the project succeeded at a high formal design level. The striking structure, with its cubic, rhythmically arranged residential units is reminiscent of containers stacked on top of each other on a cargo ship. A fascinating association that optically establishes a bridge between contemporary building architecture and the container-loaded ships in the harbour and in this way makes the boundaries disappear.’
De ICONIC AWARDS voor Innovatieve Architectuur is een internationale prijs voor architecten en designers, uitgeschreven door de German Design Council. De focus van de competitie ligt op innovatie en het samenvloeien van verschillende disciplines. Eerder won Mei dezelfde prijs met het getransformeerde Kaaspakhuis in Gouda.
